spring cleaning, from the inside out!
How does imbalance show up for you? Allergies? Irritability? Anger? Brain fog? Fatigue? Poor digestion, sleep, and focus? Skin eruptions?
In the spring, the liver is more susceptible to falling out of balance, so it's a really good time to focus on supporting the liver and its ability to carry out its natural detoxification responsibilities. There are plenty of full detox programs out there. But we’re here to keep it simple. Simple steps, and simple herbs. Life is already complicated, and we don't want to shock the system.
STEP 1: Lay the Foundation
Rest, hydration, movement, and nourishing food are needed to support your body’s inherent ability to remove toxins and metabolic wastes. Can you amp-up these practices to whatever degree is manageable for you? Small wins are still wins. Reduce that which doesn’t serve (the 2nd coffee, alcohol, & processed food).
STEP 2: Extra Body Love with Herbs
Incorporate a few local herbs that offer immune support, reduce inflammation, and support your body’s detoxification process. We've put together a bundle below with our favourites... with a special discount (woohoo!). A few herbs, a few times a day. You can do it!
BONUS STEP: Journal each day to release emotional weight.
Whether it’s a 5min brain dump (scribble whatever is on your mind), or writing 3 gratitudes - every little bit is beneficial.

🌱 SO WHICH HERBS DO WE LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR? ... 🌱
Awesome Herb #1: NETTLE LEAF
NUTRITION POWERHOUSE & ALLERGY RELIEF
We CRAVE this springtime nutritive tonic, as it is high in vitamins, minerals, macronutrients like iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and protein. Nettle leaf tea (which we prefer iced or room temp) has been used traditionally as a blood purifier, to help the efficiency of the kidneys and liver, and as a mild diuretic. It is a great herb to use in the spring, as it has antihistamine properties to relieve symptoms of allergies such as sneezing and itchy, watery eyes & excessive mucus. Eczema sufferers may also benefit from including nettle in their herbal repertoire.

Awesome Herb #2: Mushrooms
immune support
Ok, mushrooms are not a herb, but these fun-gi's offer amazing support all year round. And for those with seasonal allergies (hypersensitivity of the immune system to substances in the environment) functional mushrooms offer immune modulating properties that can help to normalize the immune response. Plus a gazillion other benefits.
Awesome Herb #2: DANDELION ROOT
NOURISHING CLEANSER
Dandelion, we are convinced, is one of the greatest herbs of all time... and right at all of our our fingertips. Thank you, universe. The entire plant is restorative and rejuvenating. While we love eating fresh spring greens, the root is particularly stimulating to the liver, inducing the flow of bile and cleaning the hepatic (liver) system. The root is also an effective diuretic, toning the kidneys and aiding in proper water elimination while maintaining appropriate potassium levels. (Gladstar, 2008)
